About Kirkwood Consortium

A Cleveland foundation.
A Great Lakes vision.

The Kirkwood Consortium is a Cleveland-headquartered real estate developer pursuing development, co-development, investment, and long-term ownership across the Great Lakes region.

Our focus spans multifamily housing, mixed-use development, industrial and flex properties, adaptive reuse, and strategic land. We pursue opportunities to create productive places, build recurring property income, and establish the foundation for an enduring real estate enterprise.

KC connects property-level investigation with site-control strategy, financial underwriting, capital planning, and defined development responsibilities. These capabilities support our development activities—from determining whether an opportunity is feasible to establishing the rights, partnerships, and project conditions required to advance it.

John H. Kirkwood Jr. founded The Kirkwood Consortium in 2025 with the ambition to build a Cleveland-rooted real estate development company that grows through project responsibility, disciplined investment, and retained ownership.

Raised in Cleveland’s Collinwood neighborhood, John brings a personal connection to the city and its future. His vision for KC extends across the places where people live and work: housing, commercial corridors, industrial properties, and land capable of supporting future development.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management from Franklin University and an Associate of Arts from Cuyahoga Community College, where he graduated cum laude. His background in real estate accounting and financial management informs his approach to development economics, operating performance, and capital decisions.

His work at KC includes parcel-level investigation, development feasibility, financial modeling, operating underwriting, and public capital-stack analysis. He is building the company toward project sponsorship through defined development and co-development responsibilities, with experienced development partners and expressly negotiated participation.

His objective is to translate technical capability into development responsibility—and development responsibility into lasting ownership.

KC’s long-term vision is a portfolio of housing, industrial and flex properties, mixed-use assets, and strategic land positions that generates recurring income and supports progressively larger development.

Over time, that vision extends to waterfront redevelopment and phased districts—connecting housing, employment, infrastructure, and public space through coordinated development and long-term ownership.

We intend to build that enterprise project by project, with clear responsibilities, documented decisions, and ownership objectives established in the agreements governing each opportunity.
